Mother daughter detained with body in trolley bag

A severed head and torso were discovered inside a trolley suitcase near Kumartuli Ghat. The horrifying incident came to light when police intercepted two women carrying the suitcase and found the dismembered remains of a woman inside.

The accused have been identified as Falguni Ghosh and her mother Aarati Ghosh. Upon questioning, Falguni claimed that the victim was Sumita Ghosh, whom she described as her ‘Pisi Sasuri’ (cousin mother-in-law). However, police are still verifying her statement and probing the motive behind the brutal crime.

According to Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma, the police are examining multiple angles, including whether the murder was pre-planned or committed in a fit of rage. Forensic teams have been deployed at the crime scene to collect evidence, while authorities have intensified local surveillance and questioned residents to gather more information.

Investigators are now probing possible motives, such as personal disputes, financial issues, or property conflicts between the accused and the victim. Initial reports suggest that the body was brutally dismembered, indicating a calculated effort to conceal the crime.
